HOW TO: Use the Pawfit Voice Commands

Pawfit Voice Commands enables you to programme up to six voice commands for each pet. With the touch of a button in the Pawfit app, you can play your voice commands via the speaker in the tracker. It means that when your pet is out of ear shot, you can still communicate with them effectively.

You can access voice commands via the Pawfit app home screen by tapping the Whistle icon.

  • Press ‘Add’ to create your first voice command
  • Press the microphone button to start recording, making sure you are speaking loudly and clearly

  • Each voice command can be up to 4 seconds long
  • Press the Play button to hear your recording back
  • If you want to re-record the command, press the Re-do button

Why you use Pawfit Voice Commands

Pawfit Voice commands is designed as a way for you to communicate with your pet and enhance your recall capabilities when they are out of earshot. With the touch of a button, your voice will play out the speaker in your pet’s Pawfit tracker.

Most dogs love running around off the lead, but sometimes they wander too far and can’t hear you properly when you try to call them back to you. By recording your recall command and playing it to your dog via the speaker, you can know that wherever they are, they’ll be able to hear you and know that it’s time to come back.

Get creative and have fun with your Pawfit Voice Commands. Some customers have recorded the sound of their cats’ favourite treats being shook as a way to get them to come back into the house at night!

“Pawfit 2 has literally been a life changer for us. The stress and unpredictability of my working cocker spaniel’s recall was taking its toll. Even the dog trainer thought the only option would be a few months on the lead for his own safety. Then I discovered Pawfit and was particularly interested in the voice recording element. I now know where my dog is on a walk. He is often not far away and I have two messages recorded and my dog has recalled 100% of the time since. People who have been witness to this on my regular walks are staggered with the change. It’s honestly the best piece of equipment I’ve ever bought.”

Getting your pet to respond to voice commands

Before you start using voice commands out and about, it’s important that you’re confident your pet will respond to them, especially in emergency situations.

Your pet will likely need a bit of training to get them to respond to your voice commands correctly. To make it easier for you, we’ve put together some simple steps:

  • Have your pet’s favourite treats/toys to hand to reward and encourage them
  • Start your training slowly, in a low-distraction environment like at home or in the garden
  • Give them a command like you normally would and reward them with a treat or toy when they respond correctly
  • Next, start playing your commands via the Pawfit tracker and reward them when they respond correctly
  • Once your pet is responding well to the commands at home, start practicing in areas with increasing distractions
  • Remember to take it slowly and give your pet plenty of rewards and praise when they respond correctly
  • Practicing daily will help your pet to learn the correct response quicker
  • If you have to keep repeating the voice command, the environment might be too distracting, or your pet isn’t understanding what the command means so you might need to take a step back and slow things down
