Be Prepared for Winter Play

Does your pup strive for Best in Show in the snow?  Or are they more likely to bolt back indoors after barely setting one paw on the cold ground?    Does your dog plow through the freshly built snowman outside with an overabundance of enthusiasm, or prefer to show the snowperson who is boss by barking through the window all day? Since every dog is unique, each has their own approach to snow and harsher weather in the winter.  Whatever their preference may be, they still need to be looked after no matter what the season.

Keep your dog warm in the snow

Keeping our furry friends warm during outdoor activity in the winter can make all the difference to them, especially for those not cut out for the cold.  For pets that don’t have as thick a coat to insulate them, young and senior dogs, or those that just don’t have a tolerance for the cold, consider a sweater or waterproof coat for them to wear.

Track your dog outdoors with a GPS tracker

Also, before your dog disappears into the nearest snowbank, it’s important to make sure you’ll actually be able to find them again!  A robust GPS pet location and activity tracker like the Pawfit 3s will reassure you that you’ll know exactly where your pups is, no matter how carried away they get in the snow.  Plus, the Pawfit 3s also features extreme temperature alerts to let pups and owners know when the temperature gets too low and that it might be time to go inside and warm up or get a treat!

Even if your pet doesn’t like to play in cooler weather, they still need to brave the trip outside to do their business whenever necessary.  While some pups are back inside in a flash after a potty trip, others may take the opportunity to explore, so it’s best to always be prepared.

So, whether your dog wins the snow angel award or the petrified pup award from the neighborhood pack, we’d love to see a photo of them in action (or inaction).   Share a photo today with Pawfit of your pups best seasonal performance on Instagram and we’ll share our favorites!
