Pawfit Walk for Professional Dog Walkers

If you’re a dog walker, Pawfit is the perfect tool for your business. In fact, we designed a lot of the Pawfit features specifically for professional dog walkers.

The thought of entrusting your dog with someone else can be nerve wracking, especially for relatively new pawrents. With Pawfit, Dog Walkers can give their customers peace of mind that their dog is safe, enjoying their walk and getting all the exercise they need.

Dog walkers can use their own Pawfit trackers on the dogs they’re walking and invite owners to follow their dog’s walk live or send them a post walk report once their pooch is back home snoozing, all via the Pawfit app. The ability to send detailed reports to customers is a service that helps set Pawfit dog walkers apart from the pack.

Read on for our step-by-step guide explaining how professional walkers can use Pawfit Walk for their business.

Get your clients to sign up for a free Pawfit account

Whilst it’s not essential for your clients to have a Pawfit account, there are plenty of benefits. By creating a profile, you will be able to add their dogs to your daily Pawfit Walk and your clients will be able to easily see their dog’s daily walk reports and even follow their dog’s walk live.

Your clients don’t need their own Pawfit tracker to sign up for free Pawfit account. All they need to do is download the free app and follow the steps to set up their account and create a pet profile for their dogs which takes a few minutes.

Adding clients as contacts

Once your clients have set up their free Pawfit account, you can add them as contacts. To do this, go to Walk > Address Book > Add Contact.

Here, you can search for your client’s Pawfit account by using their email address or by scanning their Pawfit ID QR Code and send them a request to connect.

They will need to login to their account to accept the connection request and once they accept, you will both appear in each other’s Address Book.

Adding dogs to walks

No doubt you’ll be going on multiple walks every day with a different group of dogs each time that will need tracking and their own walk reports to send to their owners.

Before each walk, you can add the dogs that you’ll be walking and assign if their walk will be tracked by a tracker or by your phone.

To do this open Walk and press the + button in the top left corner. A list of all your clients and their dogs will appear.

Before you start – all your trackers will automatically be assigned to your pets’ profiles. To unassign them and make them available for other dogs, de-select these dogs.

Tap a dog’s name to add them to the walk. A box will appear asking you to choose how to track the dog during the walk. Tap the drop-down arrow to assign one of your available trackers or to track through your phone.

If your client has their own Pawfit tracker, you will not be able to track them via Pawfit Walk on your Pawfit account unless you are a member of their Family Pet Care and you will need to track them with your own tracker or via your phone.

(Find out more about Family Pet Care here)

For dogs tracked via your phone, the information in their walk report will be limited. There will be no step count and distance travelled will be based on the distance your phone travels.

On the Walk page, the icons of all the dogs included in the walk will appear at the top of the screen. To remove a dog, tap the red X next to their icon.

During the walk

When you’re ready to start your walk, press Start.

You can share the walk live with individual owners by tapping the Share icon and selecting you want to send a request to. They will receive a notification on their app to watch the walk live.

When you want to record when dogs have eaten or done their doggy business, tap the relevant icon and you’ll be asked to assign the action to a dog. Any actions will also be included in their walk report at the end of the walk.

For dogs wearing trackers, their movements will be recorded on the map. For dogs being tracked via the phone, their route will be dependent on the movement of the phone.

After the walk

When your walk is finished, press Stop. The walk reports will appear, and you can swipe across to see each dog’s report or tap their icon at the bottom. Tap share to send reports to owners. You can even include a message to let them know how their pup got on.
